The law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, famous for developing important defenses for corporations wishing to not be bought, has agreed to merge with Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP, winner of the 2017 Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce’s Corporate Diversity award.
Firm leaders have explained that this was largely a geographic play. Waller has been looking to expand its business into the undertapped New York market, and Wachtell has been hoping to establish southern roots for a long time. Waller said it’s most excited about the Nashville office in light of the 2017 diversity victory. But they’re also really excited about Birmingham.
